In pharmaceuticals:
Chemists started to synthesize guanidine carbonate in the late 19th century by exploring the reactions between guanidine and carbonates. Since then guanidine carbonate becomes an important compound which has applications in various productions of pharmaceuticals. Particularly it is found to be in the manufacture of antibiotics and anti-fungal agents. According to a literature review of articles between 2004 and 2022, anti-fungal agents which has at least one guanidine group is found to be promising for treating human-related fungal pathogens (Baugh, 2022).
In cosmetics and hair products:
Guanidine carbonate also has major applications in cosmetics, primarily as a hair relaxer and for pH adjustment. In hair relaxer, guanidine carbonate works by breaking the disulfide bonds in hair which are responsible for shape and curl patterns. Because of its strong alkali properties, guanidine carbonate is a good pH adjuster. It is used to adjust and maintain the pH of cosmetic formulations to ensure its stability and safety.
De Hong sells guanidine carbonate in both industrial grade and cosmetics grade. If you are interested in purchasing, please contact us at ycdehongchem@gmail.com or caoxiaolinghji@126.com.
